I recently went for a luxurious weekend stay in Paris, and having just watched the new film starring Owen Wilson, am even more in love with the city than ever before.
I adore the cafe culture, even in the rain, and stumbled across some amazing little thrift markets that sold jewels and riches from all over. I managed to pick up some stunning new jewellery (its a girls prerogative!) and would highly recommend a stroll down to Avenue des Ternes to see for yourself. They also have some great food markets on the streets just off of here too.
Obviously, after all that shopping and meandering through the ancient streets, you need to find the best place to rest your feet and quench your thirst. Other than the main hotels which offer some stunning drinking venues, La Conserverie is a must visit if you like cocktails and delicious nibbles. Open for just over a year, this eclectic bar is understated and, for the moment anyway, away from the crowds and prying eyes of the city. The original cocktail list will surprise any delight any palette.
Paris is actually fast becoming a place I would like to live, well for a while anyway, I’m not sure I could give up my London that easily. However, thanks to the wonder of Eurostar, which was easier and quicker than ever before to use, it’s as close as a trip down to the coast.
I’m looking forward to my trip back for NYE this year. I just wish it was the 1920’s like the new film outlines, it really was a rich and raucous time!
